Drakontas is seeking talented software engineers who are interested in developing our next generation of networked collaboration tools. You will join a small, yet highly dynamic and motivated team that develops software for a wide variety of platforms, including Linux-based backend services, rich web applications, and mobile devices such as Android and Windows Mobile smartphones. Candidates for these positions will be involved in all aspects of software development: use case/requirements analysis, architectural design, software implementation and testing. Candidates must be self-motivated to work and innovate in a close team without constant oversight. To gain a full appreciation of our customers' needs, our software engineers frequently embed with professional law enforcement and first responder teams during training exercises (translated: wear tactical uniforms and assist SWAT teams, Hazmat teams, etc.).

• Computer Science / Engineering degree (BS, MS or PhD)
• Linux - Ubuntu preferred - and virtual machine configuration/deployment
• Comfortable using various languages, especially Python, JavaScript and Java
• Extensive experience using object-oriented design and programming practices; hands-on experience using software engineering tools, such as Eclipse, Git, debugging tools, etc.
• Experience configuring open source systems such as Apache, MySQL, etc. in support of product deployment
• XML and related technologies (XSD, XSLT, etc.)
• HTTP/S and other Internet protocols
• Good understanding of wireless networking technologies, TCP/IP protocols including socket programming, and distributed systems; experience using traffic sniffers and analysis tools
• Strong oral and written skills required; ability to effectively communicate technical visions with senior management and external stakeholders
• 4+ years of software team development experience
